British Welterweight boxer Mikey Sakyi has signed a deal with Longshots Sports as he looks forward to a fresh start in the sport.
The 26-year-old from Romford has had 4 professional bouts to date but succumbed to defeat in his most recent fight.
“The fight I lost was a 50/50 fight in my first six rounder. It was a good fight and I lost to the better man on the night. It is definitely a fight I should of won and it is definitely a fight we will want again in the future.” said Mikey.
Sakyi is trained by Dom Negus at the Sparta 300 Boxing Gym along with ex Southern Area champion Boy Jones Jr.
“I work with Dom and train with Ben [Boy Jones] and this is the direction Dom has put me in [signing for Longshots Sports]. I’ve put my career in Dom’s hands and we’re just going to take it from there.”
“I can do it all to be honest; I can be aggressive, a counter puncher and Dom says I’m a big puncher so I like to box or punch depending on the opponent.”
Mikey continued: “I just love to fight. A lot of people have said they’ve not seen a talent like me so it’s down to me to put in the hard work. I’d love to win a British title for starters and then take it from there."
Mikey will be fighting early into the new season alongside Longshots Sports’ other new signing Shaquille Day and gym mate Boy Jones Jr and he looks forward to getting going again in his young professional career to date;
“It feels like a fresh start and it’s good. I’m so happy at the minute and it’s great training with Ben as we’re great friends and we’re buzzing off each other. Dom’s a realty good friend but he is also tough on us. We’re putting in hard work but we are really enjoying it."
